Adults: £325 16-18 yr olds: £150, or under 16 yrs: £50 (with adult participant)

Come and join us for three days at Cilyrynys for our sixth annual summer camp. With expert tuition you will be led through every stage of the bronze casting process from modelling wax and simple mould making to learning how to make hollow bronze casts with a core, depending upon the objects that you'd like to make - the teaching will be tailored to your individual needs. Using contemporary hot casting techniques involving ceramic shell you'll make your own bronze cast, finished and patinated as you wish. Each person will be allotted 2 kilos of bronze which is included in the price. Any castings over this weight will be charged.

The course is really open to everyone and no prior skills are required, previous participants in the course have included sculptors, jewellers, glass artists, ceramicists, blacksmiths, stonemasons, furniture makers, designers, and printmakers. We've also had surgeons, dentists, dancers, civil servants and farmers. In fact anyone who loves good company and likes to experiment with an exciting process and is open to learning new techniques will enjoy this course. Groups and children are also welcome (over 8 years and they can join in the course, but all U16s must be accompanied by an adult on the course too - please contact us with any queries).

Camp in our field or in the garden or stay in one of our caravans (or stay locally in a B&B) and enjoy good company in a relaxed environment. Spend the evenings watching films around the camp fire or eating together in the big space where there is a communal kitchen and plenty of seating and tables. Enjoy extended access to our studio space and workshops. On Friday evening there will be a welcome BBQ for everyone.

You will have access to:
all the equipment you need ~ expert tuition in every aspect of the process ~ our library of sculpture books ~ our collection of sculptures by a range of artists ~ our large studio space, with communal seating areas and kitchen ~ explore our 9 acres of fields, barns and woodland for inspiration

Included in the price is all the tuition, equipment and materials you need to make one or more bronze casts to take away. Each person is allotted 2 kilos of bronze, any casts over this weight are charged. The price includes camping for the duration of the course, hot showers and toilets, access to studios and our fields and a BBQ on Friday night. We'll also provide a selection of teas, coffee, milk, squash, and biscuits that you can help yourself to throughout your stay. Apart from Friday night, you will need to bring your own food but we have a small kitchen area with fridge, hob, microwave, oven, toaster and kettle, as well as a basic range of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and condiments. You will need to bring your own bedding, towels and a tent, but we also have some accommodation available in caravans so please let us know what you'd prefer! You are welcome to arrive after 4pm on Thursday to set up and stay ready to start on Friday morning at 10am.

The Venue - Although we are situated in a rural location surrounded by fields and woodland, we are just a mile from the nearest village with a shop, Post Office and pubs. We're just a short five minute drive from the main A48 road, and six miles from the M4 motorway. The bustling market town of Carmarthen is seven miles from us with a mainline train station, restaurants, cinema, theatre and shops. Our nearest airports are Cardiff or Bristol. Carmarthenshire is a beautiful county, with unspoilt beaches, dramatic scenery and castles to explore nearby (try for ideas).

Cilyrynys (meaning 'at the back of the island') is a former dairy farm, which is being developed to house the 'Workshop for Wales'. The bronze casting and studio facilities are part of this.
